31st Anniversary of Chemical Attack on Sardasht

sardashtOn June 28th, 1987, 4 chemical weapons (mustard gas) were dropped on Sardasht, a city in Northwest of Iran. 110 civilians were killed within few days and 8000 were exposed to mustard gas.
After 31 years, people of Sardasth are still suffering from the long term consequences of mustard gas. This was the first chemical attack against civilians in the history. On this occasion, the minister of foreign affairs of Iran and director general of Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons have issued statements.

dr-zarifJune 28, 2018 marks the 31st anniversary of the disastrous gas attack by the Iraqi Ba’athist regime on innocent and oppressed people of Sardasht. This day is designated as National Day of Fight Against Chemical and Biological Weapons in the Iranian calendar. The reality is that the calendar can register this human disaster only on one of its pages while the innocence and resistance of the people of Sardasht have been registered eternally in all pages of history.

State of Palestine Joins the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons

President of ICOFOM Visits TPM

icom-2018Mr. François Mairesse, President of ICOFOM (International Committee for Museology of ICOM) and wife visited TPM on 12th May 2018. In this visit which was coordinated by ICOM-Iran, Mr. Mairesse was accompanied by director of ICOM-Iran and got familiar with the history and consequences of the use of chemical weapons against Iran.

TPM's Visiting Hours During Ramadan

WatchTehran Peace Museum is open for visits during holy month of Ramadan from Saturday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 16.

After Ramdan, we will be open as before from Saturday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 13 and 14:30 to 17.

We are closed on national holidays. TPM's admission fee is free.

The Scent of Almond Exhibition in The Hague

The-scent-of-almond-2017-tim"The Scent of Almond" exhibition was held on the sideline of 22nd Conference of the States Parties to Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) in Hague, Netherlands from November 27 to December 1st, 2017.

According to Online Art Gallery reports, this exhibition was consisted of 18 select artworks from more than 150 ones, by 100 Iranian young artists who had participated in a competition by TPM and Online Gallery.

The Visit of Ambassador of Austria

AUSTRIAN AMBASSADOR TehMr. Stephan Scholz, Austrian ambassador to Iran, visited TPM on November 8th, 2017 by TPM's invitation.
Accompanied by the volunteer docents of TPM and CW survivors he had a tour of the museum; Thereafter he got acquainted with the other cultural and international activities of TPM and had a friendly chat with the volunteer members of the museum.

Science Magazine International News Editor visits TPM

Richard-Stone-timMr. Richard Stone, the international news editor of Science Magazine visited TPM on 19 October 2017. This visit was a part of his program to get more information about the health effect of chemical weapons, the Iranian research in this field as well as the life of the Iranian victims of chemical weapons.  Before visiting TPM, Mr. Stone had meetings at Shahed University and Sasan Hospital in which he talked with prominent Iranian researchers in this field about their findings.
