Panel Discussion on Sustainable Life-Style - Sustainable Peace was held in Tehran Peace Museum

An expert panel discussion with the focus on “Sustainable Life-Style – Sustainable Peace” was held in Tehran Peace Museum on 1st October 2012, from 3 to 5 pm.

In this round table discussion, Dr Hans Levander, Founder of the Life-Link Friendship-Schools from Sweden and representatives of Iranian schools which are members of this project, Ministry of Education & Training, teachers, students, artists, AIESEC members, as well as some of the Tehran Peace Museum’s members and volunteers were present.

The round table meeting started with a short film by Abas Kiarostami entitled “Two Solutions for One Problem”, and after introducing the participants, Dr.Hans Levander  who is also a board member of the “Uppsala House of Peace” talked about the Life-Link project’s history and its pillars (care for myself, care for others, care for the nature) as well as the “Uppsala Peace Museum” which changed to the “Uppsala House of Peace” and handed a message from that peace center to the Tehran Peace Museum; and then explained their projects and the way they are contributing with the schools.

As UNESCO has named 2005-2014 as the decade of “Education for Sustainable Development”, teachers and specialist in this round table, explained and exchanged their thoughts and experiences in educational projects for the children and youth students. After this discussion, the representative of the “Interfaith Paths to Peace(IPP)” introduced IPP, its mission & global engagements as the final part of this round table.

During this 2 hours round table discussion, participants achieved lots of valuable methods on peace education for children and youth with a focus on sustainable development & sustainable peace.
