A two-day workshop entitled “Youths and Promoting Social Peaceful Skills” was held by Ms. Jasna Bastic and Mr. Jan Kulenovic (from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland consecutively) on Wednesday, August 24th and Thursday, August 25th at Tehran Peace Museum. 

 

The workshop focused on concepts such as peaceful resolution of conflicts, peaceful dialogue and needed techniques for negotiation and leadership skills for youths. The workshop simulated different conflicts throughout which participants analyzed problems from various aspects and worked their way towards a resolution. 

 

The first day was specifically concerned with peaceful resolution, interaction skills, the concept of dialogue and the conditions surrounding it, techniques to avoid a conflicted situation and focusing on commonalities and tolerance. 

 

The second day specifically dealt with leadership skills in youths, throughout which different concepts came up including: different characteristics and skills for a leader, critical thinking, project management and the importance of other members and their roles in a group. The session was concluded with analyzing an example of a successful international program led by youths. The participants in the workshop were all from different fields of study while working in different NGOs.
