The TPM's representatives attend the 20th Conference of State Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention

 

The 20th Conference of State Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) was held from 30 November to 4 December 2015 in the Hague, the Netherlands. Two representatives of the Tehran Peace Museum and the Society for Chemical Weapons Victims Support (SCWVS) were among the participants and attended some of the plenary sessions of the conference and the CWC coalition's meetings as well as the side events.


During this conference, the SCWVS's exhibition titled "Messengers of Peace" was displayed as a side event of the conference. This exhibition which is derived from the Oral History Project of the TPM, show cases 10 stories of the chemical weapons victims or other professionals and their efforts for achieving peace. 


The SCWVS's statement was also read during the plenary session of the conference as a member of the CWC Coalition by the SCWVS's representatives including Mr. Abdolsamad Rajabi Dehkordi as a victim of chemical weapons on December 2. 


The winners of this year's OPCW- The Hague award in 2015 also received their awards on November 30th. In this ceremony, Professor Mahdi Balali-Mood, the Iranian medical expert and one of the winners, donated part of his award for treating the Iranian victims of chemical weapons.


The SCWVS has attended the Conference of State Parties to the CWC since 2004.
